Swedish massage works the muscles, joints and soft tissues of the back, shoulders, legs, feet, arms, hands, neck, head and abdomen.We use a variety of techniques including short and long strokes, kneading, and tapping. It can be relaxing, or energising and can reduce tension and improve skin tone. Clients may also report an improvement in well-being and better sleep.

Claire from Claire's Holistics is a roaming tutor so currently assessment needs to take place in your own salon, treatment room, or an appropriate space in your home following a venue risk assessment.

Course Overview

This combination deal offers you the full Anatomy & Physiology home study and assessment package, plus our excellent 4 day Swedish massage diploma. This comprehensive massage course will teach you how to carry out effective full body massage treatments to a very high standard. Our Body Massage course is taught over 4 days, providing you with all of the information and techniques you will need to perform a highly marketable, professional full body massage including massage to the back, legs and feet, hands and arms, abdomen, neck and shoulders, head and face. The course is open to beginners and existing therapists.


Massage is undoubtedly the most natural of all healing therapies and is a skill that is embedded in human culture. Massage is one of the top services requested in salons and spas and salon/spa owners are always in pursuit of a therapist with a comprehensive range of massage skills.

Course hours breakdown:


* Principles & Practice of complementary therapies and business practice.

110 guided learning hours, including self-study 

* Anatomy & physiology

120 guided learning hours, including self-study & assessement

* Provide body massage

3 days practica; training & 1 day assessment, plus 36 case studies - 68 hours total

Prerequisites: none


Model Required?

Yes, if taught individually. Otherwise students will work on each other.

Check ‘contraindications’ in the course manual to determine suitability for treatment for yourself or prior to choosing your model.


Your tutor may be able to help find a model if you are struggling, but this can't be guaranteed.




Assessment

Completion of guided home study and preparation of written assessment prior to the practical training day. On the practical training days, continuous formative assessment, verbal questions and performance of a Swedish Massage treatment with minimal guidance from your tutor, along with final completion of the written assessment. The Anatomy & Physiology course is assessed online and must be completed before the Swedish Massage diploma course can be certified.


Claire from Claire's Holistics is a roaming tutor so assessment needs to take place in your own salon  or treatment room. It is also possible to undertake the assessment in a home or private space following a venue risk assessment.


Case Studies Required: Yes, 36 hours of case studies are required to be completed within 6 months of your course.

Qualification

Accrediting Body: The Complementary Medical Association (CMA) and Professional Beauty Direct (PBD) and approved as insurable by Insync, BGi UK, Professional Beauty Direct and Westminster Insurance, however please check with your own insurer to see if they will also cover this qualification.


Qualification Attained: Natural Touch Training Accredited Diploma.
